On 'daily words to live by'...people pretty much always have needed words in this way. These days some people use the Bible (oh god...), some use other religious books, some use poetry, some use lines from films or TV, some use lines from songs, some use fridge magnets...It is a need that many feel (some people have real problems...not just literary criticism concerns!) and they will continue to use whatever works to get them through another day. If someone ever says a poem of mine has helped in any way I am pleased - I have found the words of others helpful and it feels good to make it a two way process. I don't think we need to bring the Nazis into this one (though of course it makes for a big story).
