Just a point of clarity: Tree splitting cold refers not to the act of splitting last winters trees to burn as suggested, but quite simply to the common phenomenon of the sharp “crack” heard throughout the forest on sub zero mornings where the trees are actually splitting due to “frost cracks” caused by extreme cold and temperature fluctuations.
