Poetic Blogging: Be My Guest

Today I’d like to invite you to be my guest – a guest blogger that is. Some of you have blogs of your own and that’s fine. Others of you do not have a blog at all, and that’s fine too. Either way, I’d like to invite you to be a guest blogger here at World Class Poetry. Here’s how my guest blogging program works:

  1. No poetry.
  2. OK, you can print a poem as long as you also provide some kind of intelligent commentary on the poem. It can’t be your poem and you must remain within the guidelines of fair use.
  3. You can write about anything as it relates to poetry; I value intelligent commentary from any perspective so feel free to tackle difficult subjects from a unique perspective.
  4. Only original material; no reprints. However, you can write about topics you’ve written about elsewhere as long as you don’t use the same exact words and paragraphs except in summary and within quotes.
  5. I’m not looking for academic references, though I won’t discriminate if you have them. Blogging is not academic research, but you may rely on academic research to present your ideas.
  6. You get a bio with your blog post. A short one, not a CV.
  7. Yes, you may promote a couple of your books or chapbooks in your bio (and link to their sales pages).
  8. If you have a blog or a website you can link to it, or them. Up to two links allowed. If you’re familiar with SEO practices, this can help you in your search engine rankings and feel free to use your anchor text.
  9. No length requirements, but be reasonable.
  10. No serial posts allowed. Get it all in one post, but you may guest blog more than once.
  11. You don’t have to be a poet, just have something intelligent to say about the state of poetry today, writing poetry, the art of poetics, or some aspect of poetic literature.

That about sums it up. If you have an interest in being a guest blogger at World Class Poetry, register as a user of the site and contact me with your username. I’ll give you contributor rights and you can write as many guest posts as you wish to write upĀ two to twice a month.

    Hi Allen,

    Interesting idea. I’m tempted.

I spotted a typo (not that they aren’t all over *my* blog too). You wrote: “write up two twice a month”.

Visited your “Contact Me” link. Who is “us”? Are you co-writing your blog or is the “we” and “us” royal? Just curious – not a snarky question.

The only thing you didn’t mention is whether what’s posted here can also be posted at ones own blog.

OK, I’ll fix the typo. Thanks for pointing out my weaknesses. Achilles is smiling. ;-)

“Us” is myself and my imaginary friends, all of whom exist solely in my head – except for the one that keeps escaping and waving from behind the big oak tree I can’t remember is there. Besides odd, I’m also a little bit Gemini. :-)

Yes, you can feel free to re-post at your own blog AFTER your post has been published here for one week. Good question.
