Poets Laureate And Letters To A Young Poet

Here are some kind words from history’s best male lesbian poet. I love the way Rilke addresses the younger poet. And the advice he gives is as relevant today as it ever was. “Going inside yourself.” It seems intuitive yet so few beginning poets delve into themselves in the way that Rilke describes. To me, it seems like there’s no other place to go.

If you’ve never read Letters To A Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke, I can’t recommend it enough.

More recent news: The state of Washington has a new poet laureate. Congratulations to Samuel Green, the state’s first poet laureate ever.

Speaking of poet laureate, former U.S. Poet Laureate Ted Kooser makes this Pittsburgh poet “orgasmic.” Funny. He never had that effect on me.

And here’s the place where poets laureate hang out.
