The Kenyon Review Digitizes Its Archives

The Kenyon Review has announced that its archives are being digitized as a part of JSTOR. I think this is great. More literary journals should think about doing this. It’s work, but it’s well worth the preservation of great literature. The only problem with JSTOR is that it is mostly accessible through educational institutions, which makes independent scholarly work a bit restrictive. If I want to get in depth literary information not available from my public library then I have to gain access to a library at a college or university and that requires a drive. Since I work out of my home full time, that puts a little damper on any scholarly work I can do. Still, I think the preservation of literary work this way through digital media is a step in a positive direction for everyone.

As an added treat for today, enjoy the top 10 American poems of the 20th century. Thank God Ezra Pound didn’t make the cut.
